This Transitional Glass Wine Cellar in a Modern Home is STUNNING!

Convenient Transitional Glass Wine Cellar Location for Storing Wine and Hosting Parties

This transitional wine cellar is a combination of traditional wooden racking and modern glass walls

Wood and glass are a classic combination for modern glass wine cellars. This particular design is situated between the dining area and kitchen in a client’s home, with an entrance facing the dining room, adding an elegant touch to the experience. The wooden wine racks, luxurious glass walls, and doors provide a beautiful way to store the wine bottles and make them easily accessible when entertaining visitors or hosting parties. It also serves as a convenient central location for storing wine bottles and pairing them with meals.

A Stunning Transitional Glass Wine Cellar Visual with Alderwood and LED Lighting

Experts in the wine cellar industry highly seek the usage of Alderwood in wine cellar design. The team expertly utilized Alderwood to create a beautiful wooden wine racking system that is visually stunning and highly functional. The dark stain applied to the Alderwood gives the wine-racking system a modernly sophisticated yet traditional look. The intricate grain pattern of the Alderwood is illuminated by the LED lighting on its channels, forming a striking contrast with the dark stain. Light and dark tones make for an unforgettable visual that will perfectly match a contemporary wine cellar made of glass.

Two Modern Diagonal Wine Racks Separated by a Single-Deep Rack

The wooden wine racking goes well with the transitional glass wine room.

The semi-symmetrical design of the wooden racking system of the transitional glass wine cellar looks exceptionally clean and well-organized. On each side, the racks intersect perpendicularly, while on the ends there are horizontal racks stacked one on top of the other. At the center of the design are vertical racks with label-forward orientation. Above them are cork-forward square bins that store up to ten bottles each. To the left, there are single-deep cork-forward racks bisecting the square bins. At the lower part of the system, two diagonal racks separated by a single-deep cork forward rack have been installed.

This glass wine room with a modern wooden wine-racking system is aesthetically pleasing and efficient. It can store up to 616 bottles of wine, making it a great option for those looking for a beautiful yet spacious wine cellar. Moreover, a wooden center table of dark-stained Alderwood was installed, giving the client a place to decant and enjoy his wines. Additionally, there is a space below the table for storing wine cases.

Expert Installation of Glass Walls and Doors for Your Wine Cellar

Using glass panels for walls and doors in a wine cellar is an excellent choice, but it should be left to experts like Wine Cellar Designers Group. Regular glass won’t do, since it won’t effectively block condensation that can lead to mold growth. Coastal has used ¾ inch-insulated glass panels for the walls and the door to ensure the wine cellar is appropriately sealed. This glass grade is designed to prevent any fluctuations in temperature and humidity and will keep your wines safe from oxidation and premature aging.

The glass walls and door gives a peek to the wine cellar’s transitional interior with warm LED lighting.

Quality Wine Aging Process Facilitated by Wine Guardian Cooling Systems

The team installed a split-type cooling unit from Wine Guardian for this project. This cooling unit has two separate parts: the evaporator and the condenser. The evaporator was placed on the soffit above the ceiling, and the condensing unit was ducted outside the home. The Wine Guardian refrigeration unit has near-zero visibility inside the wine room. The only conspicuous part is the control panel for the thermostat, which the client may adjust to his preference.

The absence of noise is desirable among wine cellar owners, as noise from the cooling unit can sometimes be distracting while enjoying wine inside the wine cellar. The ducting system nulls the noise from the motor and the cooling unit fans so that its mechanical noise is not audible inside the wine cellar.

The optimum temperature and humidity for wine storage are 55°F to 57°F and 60%, respectively. These conditions will facilitate the delicate wine aging process, retards mold growth, and prevent the cork from shrinking or losing its sealing ability. Going beyond or below these optimum conditions may compromise the quality of wines stored in the wine cellar. A cooling unit from Wine Guardian installed in the wine cellar allows for the perfect balance of temperature and humidity, ensuring that the wines stored stay of the highest quality.

Avoiding Potential Problems in Glass Wine Cellar Installation

Working with professionals like Wine Cellar Designers Group is essential for building a glass-enclosed wine room. Before starting the building process, a heat load calculation must be conducted to determine the necessary BTUs for the wine cellar to cool efficiently. Spray foam application is also an absolute must in every wine cellar as it prevents the formation of water droplets and the potential formation of molds. To ensure the materials meet industry standards, at least ¾ insulated glass panels should be used in the installation process. With the help of expert wine cellar designers, you can be sure your wine cellar project is up to standard.
