See the video version of this page, working on major hotels in the business.

This serves as a guide and glimpse when designers work on major hotels in building hospitality custom wine cellars.

What are the common custom wine cellar design trends?

We’re seeing a move towards the contemporary, the metal racking with few ties of wood in there. Sometimes there’s metal to it. A lot of the racks that are coming out now are the tubes or rods that are horizontal. Metal and glass is definitely something that is very popular these days.

I think people are looking for more of the different types of anodizing that people can do so if you take a look at the doors – it’s been anodized in a specific color, so it’s aluminum with an anodized color that made a lot of sense.

A Voce in New York displays a glass-based wine racking system to improve the restaurant’s ambiance.

The racking systems are usually in horizontal displays or a peg that people are using into behind an acrylic panel or wood panel.

In the acrylic panel situation – they put a backdrop of lighting to really brighten up that look. But we’re seeing a lot of horizontal and vertical metal displays but in aluminum or brushed stainless steel or anodized doors and racking.

When you’re working with people in the project, is there any specific interaction that they’re looking from you?

There is a lot, there is hand holding on both sides, this is something that when somebody’s putting this type of money into a restaurant or a hotel, they’re looking to really capture the vibe of the hotel.

Working with the designers is on a consistent basis, it’s something that’s very key. We probably are talking in the beginning on a daily basis until the drawing is completed.

Once the drawing is installed probably back again on the daily basis to make sure that all the different finishing touches are there.

Can you provide us with a tour of one of your projects?

This is A Voce Time Warner Building in New York. These are sliding doors, with over 5000 bottles – with over a thousand of those bottles being very large, large bottles, large formats, magnums and such.

Italian Restaurant, A Voce, has a hospitality wine rack system for its customers.

There are eight different cabinets, very large cabinets like this. They all have a split system unit.

A split system unit is a condensing unit with a fan coil. It’s a cooling unit that provides the correct humidity and temperature control for storing in these environments.

One of the top winning wine cellar that year was Four Seasons that we designed in New York.

There’s Laguna Beach, Ritz-Carlton below.

These are just a touch on some of the projects that we have accomplished in our time but anything from – you name the major hotel from Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Montage, that’s the type of projects that Iron Wine Cellars offers and sells across the United States.

With all these projects, where do the different materials come from?

Laguna Beach – Ritz-Carlton improved its customer attraction by implementing a wood and glass custom wine rack system.

Usually, we go underneath the builder that they already have, we become just like a sub so we don’t end up them having to be the contractor itself.

In some instances, we work right there with glazier and they do it, sometimes we build our own glass and bring it up depending on the cost and depending on what we wanna do, whatever’s cost-effective.

Anything that’s obviously glass inside a door and such we use ourselves.

If there’s any wall work we usually ask them to do the wall work themselves, we consult their team to how to build the wine cellar and the back.

We utilize their HVAC team, we consult them, and our goal is to just really build the racks and get them installed.
